Now in the industry for 4 years and running, Fitness Icon SA has evolved fitness into new heights converting dance fitness to Cardio Dance Evolution. As a lifestyle fitness brand, Fitness Icon prides itself in the communal belief and practice of social inclusion through events, programs and apparel.
Fitness Icon was founded in 2017 by one of my best friends, Mac D. It’s inception came through a business my wife and I were running, COMSADE (Centre of Music, Sports and Dance Excellence), where Mac D was instructing an adult hip hop class and realised that there is an untapped market behind dance fitness in South Africa. The company took off through the local gyms and built a strong community and demand nationally, continuing to grow from strength to strength.
My role in the company was initially strategic and management consulting. I since have developed their website and LMS, building a solution that allows instructors to offer pre-recorded and live classes online.
